HOW TO GO FROM SWEET HOME TO THE AIRPORT OF PUNTA CANA?

Once and for all, we have summarized the different options you would have to go from Sweet Home to the Airport of Punta Cana.

TAKING A TAXI FROM  SWEET HOME TO THE AIRPORT OF PUNTA CANA

Journey Duration: 25 minutes

Journey cost: between RD$1,950 and RD$2,500

Those who prefer the maximum level of comfort while traveling can enjoy a direct private transfer from Sweet Home Punta Cana Guest House to the Airport of Punta Cana for a total of USD$35 - USD$45; being this one of the most expensive options of all.

Ordering an UBER is also possible and rates would be slightly lower.

 

TIPS ON UBER IN PUNTA CANA - some UBER drivers will try to charge you an additional fee in cash - which is NOT mandatory and could be considered a scam. For this reason, whenever ordering an UBER always reconfirm with the driver that the rate to pay at the end of the ride will be the one shown in the platform.

DRIVING FROM SWEET HOME TO THE AIRPORT OF PUNTA CANA

Journey Duration: 25-30 minutes

Journey cost: between RD$3,000 and RD$9,000

 

This option is for the more independent travelers, who prefer to be in control of their whole trip but who also seek comfort above all, being therefore this option, the most expensive one to get to the Punta Cana Airport.

 

As far as EXPENSES are concerned, find below the costs to consider:

 

- Daily cost of vehicle rental (between about RD$2,700 and RD$8,500)

- Fuel or GAS (between about RD$300 – RD$400)

   No tolls to pay

 

As far as SIGNALING is concerned, if you plan to be driving without WIFI, you would need to follow the following route:
 

- Exit residential complex from exit Avenida Barceló Villas
- Villas Bávaro to Cruce de Coco Bongo

- Cruce de Coco Bongo to Rotonta de Punta Cana

- Turn in direction to Punta Cana Airport at Rotonda de Punta Cana

   (be careful not to go in direction to Santo Domingo)

 

If your vehicle has GPS or your phone has WIFI, simply help yourself with any app such as Google Maps, WAZE, etc.

IMPORTANT:

 

Most rental car companies accept to deliver/receive vehicle in airport – which could save you some time and money! Just make sure to reconfirm with rental car company if collection/drop off of the vehicle is possible at this location and if there would be any additional fees to make.

TAKING A BUS FROM SWEET HOME TO THE AIRPORT OF PUNTA CANA

Journey Duration: 1-1.5 hours

Journey cost: between RD$100 and RD$200

 

For those interested in the cheapest way to go from Sweet Home Punta Cana to the airport of Punta Cana, let us explain to you how to take the bus.

 

1- You will first need to catch the first bus at the bus stop located right outside our residential complex in direction to El Cruce de Verón.


This ride will cost from RD$50 – RD$75 per person depending on the bus you take – payment can be only made in cash – buses will pass by this bus stop every 20-25 minutes…

 

2- Once you are dropped off at the Cruce de Verón you will need to take another bus now in direction to Punta Cana and asked to be dropped off in front of the airport.

 

This second bus will also cost RD$50 – RD$75 pre person – payment can only be made in cash – buses will pass by this bus stop every 25-30 minutes.

 

IMPORTANT:

 

Take into account that there might be additional fees depending on your amount of luggage and the space it occupies in the bus.

 

Take into account that it will be your responsibility to determine from which terminal you would be departing and that some buses can only drop you off at the exit area of the airport and not at your departure terminal – so, you might have to walk a little bit to your departure area.

 

Public transportation is very informal in the destination and buses run in island time, so make sure you take this into account while calculating your departure & commuting times.

 

Buses will be working regularly from around 5:00am until around 10:00pm – take into account the frequency is inferior during very early and late times of the day.
